Ann has been attempting to stock a number of John Bellairs's books in preparations for the late author's birthday on Monday, January 17. She says John Denneny, a representative at Penguin Putnam, said the book was out of stock indefinitely and the publisher had no plans to put it back in stock. When asked why, Denneny said it was because the book was selling less than 2,000 copies a year. La Pietra asked what she could do to prevent this and was told she should write a letter to him so he could show he was not the only one who thought the book should be saved.
Fans are encouraged to voice their concerns by writing a letter showing support for not only Doom but all of John's novels. Please send your letters to:

Monday, January 17 is also the day when the American Library Association will announce this year's Caldecott and Newbery Awards. Ann asks if you can see a way to use that information in your letter, go ahead.
