Bishop Corvo was quoted in an article in Time on the Secretariat on Saintliness (Saint Fidgeta and Other Parodies, 82).
He wasn't a real bishop.
English novelist Frederick Rolfe (1860-1913) wrote the novel Hadrian the Seventh (1904) under the pseudonym "Baron Corvo.” The satirical novel is about an Englishman who gets to be pope despite having been rejected for the priesthood; since the only previous English pope was Adrian IV (born Nicholas Breakspear), he takes the name Hadrian VII [1].
