On the Road to Providence

H. P. Lovecraft
Just as those quirky Bellairsians have their Bellairs Walk in Marshall, so too do they celebrate Lovecraft’s hometown of Providence, Rhode Island.  "A hand-sketched survey of key areas that were important to both H.P. Lovecraft and his stories” was announced recently.
[The] map found on the great Lovecraft's Legacy Blog by Chris Perridas was too good to pass up. It is a hand-sketched survey of key areas that were important to both H.P. Lovecraft and his stories. I do not know whether or not all of the places marked on the map still exist in more or less unadulterated forms since Lovecraft's day. I imagine a good many of them do. However, St. John's Park--the site of the church that inspired Starry Wisdom in "The Haunter of the Dark"--is lacking its Lovecraftian landmark, as the building was torn down in the early 1990s. Still, this map provides an efficient, quick overview of the Providence areas most endearing to HPL.
Another note discusses some of the surprises in a tour given last year, including some pictures of some of the important Lovecraftian sites.
