50th Annual Historic Home Tour

The 50th Annual Historic Home Tour of Marshall, Michigan features eight of the city's most outstanding privately owned homes, as well as an historic church and the city's best-known museums: Honolulu House, Walters Gasoline Museum, American Museum of Magic, GAR Hall, DAR Governor's Mansion, the Calhoun County Fair Museums, Maple Grove Church and School, and the Capitol Hill School.

For half a century now Marshall has been celebrating their historic homes. In celebration of those 50 years there will also be 50 tickets to a first-time benefit event, "Basement to Ballroom, a Complete Tour of Stonehall." Built in 1838, the two-story Greek Rivial house at 303 N. Kalamazoo Avenue was built for Dr. Andrew Hayes, the first doctor of Calhoun County. During the ownership of Dr. William F. Church in 1901, the house became known as "StoneHall." It underwent remodeling in 2001.

This year's tour offers a diverse mixture of architectural styles and eras of construction, all within walking distance of the Honolulu House. Marshall's museums, a historic church, a historic downtown business, and a historic cemetery building now serving as the headquarters for Marshall's Community Foundation and United Way are also included in the price of admission.

Marshall's tour has been called the Granddaddy of Midwest Home Tours and is famous all over the country for its traditions and heritage, and was voted the Best Home Tour by the readers of AAA's Michigan Living magazine
