Book Alert: The House Where Nobody Lived

With the settlement of Frank Bellairs's estate, the publisher has asked for new books and the first one will be called The House Where Nobody Lived. The publishers asked for a Lewis book, so that's what it is. It's based on an actual house in Marshall, Michigan, though I've taken liberties with it and have relocated it.
In other breaking news, it really looks as if the movie of The House with a Clock in Its Walls will finally be produced. Stay tuned.

Movie News

"Muse is also entering the children's entertainment market. It is co-producing The Never Ending Story, a live-action, special effects TV series based on the internationally acclaimed feature film franchise. It is also co-producing The House with a Clock in its Walls, a TV movie based on Ron Bellairs' classic novel."We received an e-mail reply from Betty Palik, a spokesperson for Muse Entertainment Enterprises, regarding this passage. She tells us that the project is still in the early development stages - scripting, financing, and that sort of thing - so they are apparently quite a ways off from the actual shooting stage.
Unfortunately, they give credit on their site to "Ron" Bellairs. They said they would correct that.

Book Alert: The Tower at the End of the World

"Let's see... the manuscript of The Tower at the End of the World has been turned in. In it, the descendant of an old enemy of Lewis Barnavelt turns up to trouble him and his uncle. The cover artist will be S.D. Schindler, whose work may be seen on the cover and interior illustrations of The Ghost of Nicholas Greebe.
"I've had no further word on the movie adaptation of House, but it's supposed to start shooting [soon], so it may be underway."

An Announcement from Brad Strickland

The entire run of Bellairs books for younger readers has been optioned by a film production company. It's a long way from optioning to actual production, but the dramatizations will probably come out in the same order as the original books, roughly speaking; although I do suspect that the six Lewis/Rose Rita stories may be the first set, then the Johnny Dixon [series], and then the Anthony Mondays. Keep your fingers crossed that the adaptors won't make these too childish or silly! I'll keep you posted as I learn more. Right now, I don't even know the name of the production company that has optioned the books.
