Reports have surfaced that a film adaptation of Edward Gorey’s The Doubtful Guest is in the works.  Who knew Gorey would win over Bellairs in getting one of their books adapted for the silver screen first?

Picturing Marshall as It Was

A new book showcasing 196 photographs of Marshall, Michigan taken before the 1950s will be released May 19, 2007 during Michigan Week celebrations. Jane Ammeson of Stevensville and Susan Collins of Marshall compiled the book, titled Marshall, with the help of the Marshall Historical Society as well as family photos and postcards from Marshall citizens. Here’s a bit a trivia we think you’ll get a kick out of: down on the farm 50 years ago today the BBC reported about the Swiss Spaghetti Harvest, where “thanks to a very mild winter and the virtual elimination of the dreaded spaghetti weevil, Swiss farmers were enjoying a bumper spaghetti crop.”

Happy April Fool’s Day. That, and there’s an animated movie based on The Pedant and the Shuffly in the works; our sources think Cyd Charisse will voice the Shuffly.
