Something About American Wizards

We have a LiveJournal user looking for "American Wizards of the fantasy type", originating from literature or wherever else.  The blogger has started off the list with some familiar names and we're in good company:

• Uncle Jonathan, Mrs. Zimmerman et al. from the old John Bellairs books (The House with the Clock in its Walls, etc.)
• The Wizard of Oz
• The Wizards of the Coast (so I'm already reaching. You must be able to give me better leads than this!)

The collector notes "references to sorcerers, magicians, witches and other spellcasters are appreciated, but I'm looking for the fantastical trained-mage type, definitely not an innocent burned at Salem or some huckster you can hire for a birthday party."
