Holidays in Marshall

Brooks Memorial Fountain
If you find yourself in Michigan at any point during the remainder of the year, John Bellairs's hometown is celebrating the holiday season with their annual Christmas Parade, Nov. 29, 2004. It's a traditional delight that's highlighted by many bands, dozens of floats, horses and lots of marching units all out to help usher in the holiday.

The Honolulu House Museum Open House was to take place December 3 from 6 to 9:00 pm but information about the event vanished sometime in mid-November. The unusual design of the Honolulu House has fascinated many Marshall visitors. It is said that the design of the house was copied from a building occupied by Abner Pratt, the chief justice of the Michigan Supreme Court and later US Council to Hawaii, while in Hawaii [history].

Lewis Barnavelt, too, knows about this house - or at least the New Zebedee version of it. Read about it on page 87 of The Beast Under the Wizard's Bridge.
