Filmmaker and Bellairs-fan James Strayer got in touch with us earlier this year about his latest work, Widow's Walk Lake, a film inspired partly by some of Bellairs’ spooky stories. The story is set in the 1930s and follows a young man as he goes off to war leaving his wife behind.
James writes today to say that although they've pushed back production for Widow's Walk Lake, “I've managed to put together a trailer animatic using storyboards and concept art for the film. I thought perhaps your readers might like an update on our progress.”
We would indeed. Thanks for the update, James!

Wow, looks fantastic! Hope you get some support behind it. Maybe once its finished you can do something more directly Bellairs related!!
Hauntingly beautiful... I can't wait to see the real thing! As a Youth Librarian, I am always looking for things like this: something that captures the mood and imagery of the creepy and macabre, but isn't gory like slasher films. This seems like a film that will cross generations... adults who remember reading Bellairs in their youth and kids and teens who are currently into Bellairs or modern authors like Darren Shan. To the filmmaker: be sure to keep us updated!
