About 60 people gathered Thursday at the Franke Center for a community input session on ways to better market and promote Marshall as a destination.
At the meeting, Chamber of Commerce President Monica Anderson revealed a new logo and tag line, "Marshall, Michigan. You're Welcome." The new "branding" was presented in a 24-page brochure that will be distributed at welcome centers and tourism bureaus throughout the state. Anderson said 30,000 brochures were printed. They are available at the Chamber office.
During small-group discussions, proximity to highways, historic appeal, art galleries and willing volunteers were listed as some strengths. Perceived weaknesses included a lack of signs at all city entrances, lack of regional awareness and an out-of-the-way or hidden location.
