"It was so worn and unloved, I just couldn't resist buying it, particularly since is cost about a buck. In all honesty, I bought it for something other than aesthetic reasons. I read all of John Bellairs' supernatural adventure books when I was a kid. It is exactly this sort of thing, bought in an out of the way antique store, that winds up being an artifact of ancient evil in those books. Here's to hoping."
