Top 10 2ndary Characters

As we prepare for the tenth anniversary of Bellairsia, we’re using our blatantly advertised Twitter feed to share some memorable moments and commentary in the form of Top Ten lists.

We all know Lewis, Johnny, and Anthony fairly well after scores of stories about the trio, and we know a few things about their friends and families and even the communities where they live, work, go to school, attend church, and hang out. But there’s always a lot happening in these towns – and elsewhere – by people we don’t always get to know: such as those people reading at the library, visiting the doctor’s office, or even making a ruckus inside some screwy castle along the banks of the Brown River.

This month we re-introduce you to some of our favorite secondary characters, those memorable names and personalities that more often than not are regulated to but a single book, but have been known to pop up afterward and evoke their earlier situations. While this colorful bunch of characters probably couldn’t carry a book on their own, we’re better for knowing about them from our main characters’ interactions.

On that note, we sort of wish we got to know Ted Hoopenbecker better.

Editor’s note: we formatted our blandly-overworked Twitter feed years later. The tweets are gone but here is the original list:
  • #10. The Flimsies
  • #9. King Gorm
  • #8. Sarah Channing
  • #7. Mr. Beemis
  • #6. Dr. Carl Schermerhorn
  • #5. Mrs. Hanson Oxenstern
  • #4. Mildred Jaeger
  • #3. The Fusebox Dwarf
  • #2. Bertie Goodring
  • #1. Brewster
