Off the beaten path.
I'm a bit late finding this - as if I knew to look for it at all - but the Heartbeat of Haverhill blog has an interesting post on 10 things the author learned while walking through Rocks Village, Haverhill. Are these things immediately discoverable for anyone walking through the village or was there some before-or-after reading to better illustrate what was viewed? At any rate, it's a nice look at the town to which Father Higgins was assigned in The Secret of the Underground Room (1990). We've touched upon its iconic bridge before, too.
Of note:
5) Rocks Village has six recorded earthquakes, and one report of a meteor coming to earth.
