Something About the Game of Gloom

Gloom (it's a game)
In the game of Gloom you assume control of the fate of an eccentric family of misfits and misanthropes. The goal of the game is sad, but simple: you want your characters to suffer the greatest tragedies possible before passing on to the well-deserved respite of death. Blogger Graham Linehan points out the delightful obvious similarities between the game (not kin to another game by id software) and the artwork of Edward Gorey:

I’m annoyed by the illustrations, which are, at best, crummy approximations of the style of the late, great Edward Gorey, and, at worst, direct swipes. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with paying tribute to the man, and the game mechanics certainly seem to do that, but after searching designer Keith Baker’s website, I can’t find any reference to Gorey whatsoever. Not even an ‘Inspired by the work of’ credit.
